Sled

Sled is a hosted affiliate tracking tool for Polar.sh and other webhook-based payment setups. It helps merchants track referrals, renewals, and payouts from one dashboard.

Sled

Overview

Sled is a hosted affiliate tracking product for Polar.sh and related payment setups. It is built to help merchants run recurring affiliate programs without stitching together a separate tracker, payout workflow, and webhook logic.

The product centers on referral attribution for subscriptions: you add a tracking script on your site, connect a signed webhook from Polar or another supported provider, and pass the referral cookie into checkout. Sled then records conversions, tracks renewals, and helps you manage payouts from a single dashboard.

Core features

End-to-end referral tracking

Track referrals through a script on your marketing site, a webhook from Polar or another provider, and a referral cookie passed into checkout metadata.

Recurring commission on renewals

Credit affiliates again when renewal webhooks arrive, using the original subscription record so recurring revenue keeps attributing to the same referrer.

Refund clawback and webhook ordering protection

Apply reversal logic when refunds arrive, including cases where the refund webhook lands before the sale webhook, so commission records stay consistent.

Flat-rate program pricing

Run programs on a flat monthly plan rather than commission-based pricing, with the paid plan adding unlimited affiliates and priority email support.

Private affiliate access

Give affiliates a private dashboard and keep payout details restricted to signed-in users, instead of exposing earnings to anyone with a referral link.

Join links and directory applications

Let you manage signups through a direct join link or optional public affiliate directory where affiliates can apply and you approve or decline each request.

Common use cases

  • Running a recurring affiliate program for Polar

For a Polar-based SaaS or subscription product, Sled can attribute referrals from the first checkout through recurring renewals, so affiliates continue to earn when customers stay subscribed.

  • Adding affiliate tracking to a Stripe checkout

If you already use Stripe, Sled can accept Stripe webhooks and track conversions without requiring a Polar migration.

  • Managing affiliate applications

Teams that want to review inbound partners can turn on the affiliate directory, let signed-in affiliates apply, and approve or decline each request before it becomes active.

  • Tracking payouts without moving money

Operators who prefer manual settlement can record what is owed in Sled and pay affiliates through their existing payout rails, then mark those payouts as completed.

  • Handling renewals, refunds, and webhook retries

Programs that need cleaner records around refunds and duplicate webhook deliveries can use Sled's webhook handling to avoid double-counting and to reconcile late-arriving refund events.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Works with Polar natively and also accepts Stripe or generic signed webhooks.
  • Tracks recurring commissions on renewals rather than only first-time conversions.
  • Includes refund handling and idempotent webhook processing to reduce double-counting.
  • Uses a flat monthly price instead of charging a percentage of affiliate revenue or a fee per affiliate.
  • Provides private affiliate dashboards, self-serve sign-in, and an optional affiliate directory for discovery.

Cons

  • The company says it does not handle affiliate payouts directly, so you still need an external payout method and manual settlement.
  • Free accounts are capped at 3 affiliates, so growing programs need to move to Pro.

FAQ

Does Sled work with Stripe if I do not use Polar?

Yes. Sled supports Stripe through a native webhook handler. The docs say you can add your Stripe webhook secret in settings and send checkout.session.completed and invoice.payment_succeeded events to Sled. Recurring commission on subscription renewals works the same way as with Polar.

Does Sled pay affiliates for me?

No. Sled tracks what each affiliate is owed and lets you mark payouts as paid, but it does not move money for you. The site says you handle payouts yourself with providers such as PayPal, Wise, Payoneer, Revolut, bank transfer, or crypto.

How are subscription renewals handled?

Recurring commission is built in. When Polar or Stripe sends a renewal webhook, Sled uses the subscription ID to find the original referral and credit the affiliate automatically.

What happens if I reach the free affiliate limit?

For a Free account, you can have up to 3 affiliates. If you reach that limit, the next signup is blocked until you upgrade to Pro.

How long does setup take?

The setup flow is designed around three pieces: a tracking script on your site, a webhook in Polar or another supported provider, and passing the referral cookie into checkout metadata. The docs describe the basic setup as quick, with a working signup page in about a minute and full wiring in a few more minutes.
