Workspace repository overview
Add a root folder and let FinderGit recursively identify Git repositories, then view branch, clean or dirty state, unpushed work, changed files, stars, size, and dates in a sortable table.
FinderGit is a native macOS file browser that shows Git status, branches, changes, and diffs across multiple repositories, while also supporting common Git actions. It is designed for developers who want a workspace-level view and everyday repository management without constant app or terminal switching.
FinderGit is a native macOS file browser with Git intelligence for people who work across multiple repositories. Instead of showing project folders without context, it presents branch, clean or dirty state, changed files, unpushed work, repository size, and other status information in one workspace view.
The app combines file navigation with day-to-day Git actions. Users can inspect inline diffs, stage changes, commit, push, pull, fetch, stash, and manage branches without switching to a terminal or separate Git client. It also adds repository maintenance, trust checks, Quick Look previews, optional GitHub data, and an AI-assisted commit-message workflow.

Select a modified file for a colored, line-numbered inline diff with one-click staging. When Kaleidoscope is installed, its committed-versus-working-copy comparison can be opened directly, including for binary files.
Stage or unstage files, discard changes, commit, push, pull, fetch, and stash from the app. Branch tools cover creation, renaming, merging, rebasing, deletion, worktrees, tags, and releases.
Use the Overview and Detail Panel to inspect repository counts, disk usage, issues, pull requests, fork information, and other available forge metadata. GitHub users can also view account statistics and contribution activity.
Generate a commit message from a staged diff without an API key through FinderGit's default service. The feature supports Conventional Commits, optional emoji, tone and length presets, bullet-list bodies, and custom instructions; the diff is not stored by the default service.
Preview code, Markdown, images, PDFs, and media with Quick Look; identify repository hooks and other auto-run configuration with Repo Trust; and find reclaimable node_modules, build output, and caches with cleanup tools.
Add a development root such as a projects folder and scan its repositories to identify which ones are clean, changed, or ahead of their remotes before deciding where to work.
Open a repository, review modified files in the inline diff, stage selected changes, generate or edit a commit message, and commit or push without moving between a file manager, terminal, and Git client.
Use the branch menu and repository actions to create or switch branches, reconcile divergent work with merge or rebase, and inspect conflicted files when an operation stops for resolution.
Review repository size and locate rebuildable dependencies, build output, and caches when a development folder is consuming unnecessary disk space.
Before opening an unfamiliar repository, inspect its hooks and other auto-run configuration with Repo Trust, while using the dashboard to monitor GitHub stars, issues, pull requests, or fork status where supported.
FinderGit requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. It is distributed directly from findergit.app as a signed and notarized DMG, rather than through the Mac App Store; updates can be installed automatically.
No GitHub connection is required for local browsing, Git status, diffs, commits, pushes, pulls, and related Git workflows. A GitHub connection is needed for GitHub-specific extras such as the Account dashboard, repository issue and pull-request counts, and star alerts. FinderGit can use an existing GitHub CLI login or a personal access token stored in the Mac Keychain.
FinderGit is currently free. The project asks users who find it useful to consider sponsoring its development.
FinderGit is intended to complement, rather than completely replace, a full Git client or the terminal. It supports many day-to-day operations, including staging, committing, pushing, pulling, fetching, stashing, branch management, worktrees, tags, releases, and conflict resolution. Interactive rebase and cherry-pick still require a full Git client or the terminal.
FinderGit reads repository state and only modifies repositories when you explicitly perform an action such as staging, committing, pushing, or pulling. Fetching can run automatically at launch and, if enabled, on a schedule; both settings can be disabled.
ByteAsk is a terminal-first AI coding agent for C and C++ that edits repositories and verifies changes with the real compiler, debugger, sanitizers, and tests before showing a diff. It offers a free tier plus paid plans, with editor connectors and zero-retention handling described in the source.
Epherem is a static security scanner for web apps built with AI coding tools such as Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit, Cursor, and Claude Code. It checks source files and dependencies for common security mistakes, then provides categorized findings and suggested fixes without running the app.
CreateOS Sandbox is an isolated compute environment for running code and agent workloads inside Firecracker micro-VMs. It is designed for workflows that need machine-level isolation, private networking between sandboxes, and programmatic control through SDK, CLI, or MCP.
GitBot is a local browser-based workspace for creating reusable coding bots powered by Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode. It helps developers run those agents across repository folders with persistent threads and configurable permissions.
hob is an independent workspace for coding agents that keeps agent sessions, terminals, history, and follow-up work organized around the tools and providers you already use. It is aimed at developers who want local control over routing, history, and workspace structure rather than a bundled model stack.
Ably Chat is a chat API platform for building custom realtime chat applications. It supports room-based messaging, typing indicators, presence, reactions, and message updates, with usage-based pricing options for different deployment stages.
